Several cinematographic means are employed to shape the story about the Pakistani refugee Patrick, like merging images, rotating cameras and dramatisations. The filmmaker's mother has developed a special bond with Patrick, who is not allowed to stay in Switzerland any longer. Patrick's status remains hopeless, even though the film crew helps him to undertake the (illegal) crossing from Switzerland to Italy.
