As a child, director Ester Gould knew exactly what she wanted to be: her two-year-older, extremely self-confident sister Rowan. In this unusual portrait, Gould does not show her sister, but different women who reflect several of Rowan’s sides. In the process, she discovers that the superwoman she once admired never existed. Just as in the myth of Narcissus who falls in love with his own reflection, Rowan’s seeming self-assurance turns to megalomania. A documentary about desire for recognition in a time of excessive individualism.
