Just Our Heart

Director: Maartje Nevejan
 Duration: 105 minutes

"Grief is love that has nowhere to go." Through rites of passage and personal stories of loss and renewed strength, Maartje Nevejan explores what happens when we stop looking away from grief, and dare to sit with it together instead.
What if grief isn't something we need to overcome, but a force we can draw on? In Just Our Heart, director Maartje Nevejan follows various rituals and stories surrounding loss, on a personal, ecological and colonial level. The film examines the rites of passage so often missing in the Western world, and shows how collective grief can create space for connection, change and resistance. A spiritual documentary about deeply felt loss, and the courage to sit with the pain.
