From September 24-27 2017 Utrecht will once again be the key networking station for the financing of quality independent film. The 30th edition of the Holland Film Meeting will, as in previous years, look to stimulate high levels of co-production activity between leading representatives from the Dutch, European and global finance, production, sales and distribution industries. This three-day-event, comprising the well-established HFM Co-Production Platform and the Work-in-Progress session, is host to the inaugural BoostNL programme, organized in collaboration with CineMart (International Film Festival Rotterdam).

For the third year, the Netherlands Film Festival isorganising the Be Dramatic professional meeting,devoted entirely to the current state of play withincontemporary European drama.The focus this year is on the co-production ofinternational drama series involving a Dutch creativeteam. Together with Holland Film Meeting and NFF,festival programmer Léo Soesanto will introducea number of relevant case studies, presented bytheir respective Dutch creative teams. After thepresentation of the case studies the discussion willwiden up to include all the creative teams and theprofessionals in the audience.

Prior to their presentation of projects, participatingfilmmakers and producers will attend a preparationprogramme consisting of a Pitching Coaching session.

The (closed) event Stories & Beyond offers a platformto six Dutch and six German screenwriters to getprofessional feedback on their project.In one-on-one meetings the writers (in somecases accompanied by their directors) will meet withkey industry figures from respectively the Germanand Dutch film industry. These professionals willcontribute with their specific expertise and discipline. 
With regards to relevancy, strength, weaknesses andinternational aspects of the story. The focus is ongaining professional feedback in an open and safeenvironment and whether or not certain stories wouldwork in Germany, the Netherlands and beyond.Closed session

Hosted by the Netherlands Film Fund & FPNAll participants gather to attend the official opening ofthe Holland Film Meeting. During this event, the HFMwill introduce the four participating emerging talentswho will be taking part in this year’s programme:producers Loes Komen and Randy Vermeulen, and directors Shady El Hamus and Thessa Meijer.

Excellent commercial and non-commercialdistribution strategies have become more essentialthan ever, and they should be defined (and refined)long before the premiere of the film on theinternational market. In this session, producers andfilmmakers are given the opportunity to present theirfilm to a select group of festival programmers, salesagents, financiers and distributors. This will includethe screening of a 12-minute excerpt from each work.A professional jury will hand out a prize to the mostpromising Work-in-Progress project.
