BoostNL is a joint initiative between the Netherlands Film Festival (NFF) and International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), supported by the Netherlands Film Fund. It offers projects in script development stage an entirely tailor-made trajectory, starting at NFF in August and September and culminating at IFFR in January.
By combining the two festivals’ forces and resources, and by curating the programme around the projects’ individual goals and wishes, BoostNL provides the selected participants with inspirational sessions that go beyond the film domain. This way the project participants can benefit transversally from professionals in different fields to boost their stories and projects as a whole.
The programme will present a selection of international projects that have been supported by IFFR’s Hubert Bals Fund and Dutch projects in development. The main aim of the programme is to offer guidance to the selected projects as well as exposure to new potential partners. After following the HFM track and having first meetings with (inter)national industry professionals during the HFM Market days, projects within the BoosNL scheme will continue developing their stories towards IFFR, taking part in the IFFR PRO days. Projects will not automatically be part of CineMart but can be eligible via the regular submission deadline around September.
In previous editions, BoostNL has offered to Dutch and International projects expertise and guidance from professionals such as 2022 Golden Bear winner Carla Simón (film director, Spain), Anna Ciennik (script consultant, France), Sergina Stavroulaki (Heretic Outreach, Greece), Ada Solomon (producer, Rumania), Kate Leys (script consultant, UK), Fiona Crombie (production/costume designer, UK), Pierre Menahem (international sales/co-production, France), David Pope (script consultant, UK) and Mijke de Jong (film director, the Netherlands).
The HFM track of BoostNL programme will start with plenary and training sessions in August and September 2022, continuing with experts´ one-on-one sessions in September (exact days TBD).
The HFM Market days will take place from Sunday through Tuesday, September 25th - 27th 2022.
