Stories & Beyond programme is the section of the Holland Film Meeting aimed at a selected group of screenwriters. The programme provides the participants with the possibility to meet with industry professionals from the Netherlands and abroad in individual meetings and coaching sessions to discuss their projects. Will the story, the idea, and concept find an audience in the Netherlands and/or beyond?
Stories & Beyond stimulates screenwriters in a relatively early stage of the filmmaking process to begin exploring the international potential of their future films by obtaining feedback and advice from Dutch and international key creative industry professionals in a non-competitive environment. These professionals will share their specific expertise with regard to relevance, strength and international aspects of the stories and storytelling. At the same time, the programme offers ample chances to expand your network, share ideas and experiences and broaden horizons.
This year’s focus is on projects from the Caribbean countries of Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten, the three special municipalities of Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius, Surinam and Dutch projects in connection with or interested in co-producing with the above-mentioned countries and regions.
Previous editions of Stories & Beyond have included projects from the Netherlands, France, South Africa, Indonesia, Germany, Ireland and United Kingdom. Experts included members of the Dutch film industry such as Hein van Joolen (Gusto Ent), Ilse Ronteltap (Netherlands Film Fund), Nelleke Driessen (Nine Film), Margje de Koning (Movies that Matter), and Robert Alberdingk Thijm (screenwriter); as well as international professionals such as Eve Gabereau (Modern Films, UK), Aleksandra Derewienko (CAT&Docs, FR), Mmabatho Kau (Raindrop Media, ZA), Edwin Nazir (Angka Fortuna Sinema, IN), Cate Kane (Curzon, UK), Cleo Veger (Dogwoof, UK), Matteo Lovadina (Reel Suspects, France), or Gabor Greiner (Films Boutique, Germany) amongst others.
The HFM Stories & Beyond programme will start with plenary and training sessions in August and September (exact days TBD), and will have its special event providing the participants with the possibility to meet with industry professionals from the Netherlands and abroad in individual meetings and coaching sessions to discuss their projects. on September 26th, during the HFM Market days.
The HFM Market days will take place from Sunday through Tuesday, September 25th - 27th 2022.
HFM Lab programme
The programme will start ahead of the actual film festival and the HFM Market days, and its duration and focus are different depending on the scheme the project has been selected for. BoostNL, Stories & Beyond and New Dutch are part of the HFM Lab programme.
