Yan Ting Yuen

Yan Ting Yuen (1967, Hong Kong) emigrated to the Netherlands with her parents at the age of six. Following her directorial debut, Chin.Ind., which was nominated for a Golden Calf at the Netherlands Film Festival, her second film, Yang Ban Xi – The 8 Masterpieces, was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and received a theatrical release in the United States. In 2012, she directed the ratings hit Het Geheim van de HEMA. In 2017, the documentary De Keuze van mijn Vader (2017) was released, which tells her own family story against the backdrop of Chinese history. The Eighth Day, about the rescue of FORTIS/ABN Amro, was one of the most talked-about documentaries on the 2018 financial crisis, for which she received the Tegel, the highest journalistic award of 2018. She also works as a screenwriter.
