Tamara Shogaolu – winner of the HFM Works-in-Progress Award and Golden Calf nominee in 2019 – is selected for the Latinx Inclusion Fellowship Series by the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF). She and four other directors will be mentored by professionals to create a short film, sponsored by Netflix.
Shogaolu has been selected with Lorena Durán, Justin Floyd, Kase Peña, and Monica Suriyage. They’ll each receive a grant of $20.000 to produce a short film, during which they will receive one-on-one coaching and have multiple networking opportunities. Netflix also supports them in producing the films, which will premiere at LALIFF next year.
Tamara Shogaolu won the HFM Works-in-Progress Award for ANOUSCHKA during last NFF. This interactive production is about a magical black girl’s journey through space and time. Read the interview with the HFM winners. She was also nominated for the Golden Calf for Best Interactive in 2019, for her interactive work ANOTHER DREAM. This combination of an animated documentary and a VR-game in one makes you experience the love story of a lesbian couple who flee Egypt. Read the interview about ANOTHER DREAM.
