Documentary about the Noordoostpolder, where thousands of foreign workers want to remain forever. But how can you settle in somewhere if this causes others not to feel at home anymore
Around the villages of the Noordoostpolder, some 50,000 foreign seasonal workers carry out the work the thinly spread people of Flevoland cannot manage themselves. The initial reassurance that these ‘strangers’ would subsequently go back home has evaporated; many migrant workers will never leave. This documentary portrays employers – including some former immigrants - and Polish workers who explain what it means to leave hearth and home, and build up a new life in a place where people do not exactly welcome them with open arms.
