Documentary about a soup kitchen in an underprivileged district in North Philadelphia. Here, despite a dire lack of means, three inspiring women fend for the poor and homeless in their community.
North Philadelphia is weighed down under poverty and drug-related problems. Armed violence and police intimidation are everyday phenomena. This does not impede the determined protagonists of this documentary. Black Panther Barbara Easley-Cox, pastor Renee Mackenzie and chef Mamie Mather fight side by side for social justice in their neighbourhood. In the soup kitchen of the Afro-American Church of the Advocate, these three inspiring women fight for the poor and homeless. Everybody is welcome at their table.
