Cinematic registration of Theo Maassen’s stand-up performance Zonder pardon (2008), with caustic jokes about the situation in the Netherlands, combined with reflections on his private life, in this case the birth of his daughter. The show received favourable reviews. NRC wrote: ‘Maassen is a master at stealing up on his subjects.’ ‘It remains fascinating how he can blend ribald and warm so harmoniously,’ de Volkskrant commented. Director Norbert ter Hall deployed seven cameramen to add special cinematographic lustre to his registration of the show.
