In 1930, director Henk Kleinman shot the Dutch drama Zeemansvrouwen, with the intention to produce the first Dutch talking picture. Due to technical and financial circumstances, it became the last Dutch silent picture. The Netherlands Film Museum asked composer Henny Vrienten to yet provide the film with a soundtrack: music, voices and fitting dialogues. This brings Amsterdam as it was in 1930 tangibly close.
