When filmmaker Ruud Lenssen’s father is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he starts filming his parents. This results in an affectionate documentary on dementia, informal care and our own ephemerality.
When filmmaker Ruud Lenssen’s father is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he decides to document his parents’ subsequent care programme. While father Jac frenetically clings to his idyllic hectare of land with horses, chickens and a vegetable garden, mother Ria struggles with her role as a caregiver. Meanwhile, the inevitable farewell draws near. This personal documentary carefully captures dementia and informal care, and is also an affectionate story about the ephemerality of life.
