Elinice studies in the Netherlands; her caring mother lives in Nigeria. As Elinice goes about her ordinary student life, the voice messages keep coming in. "How are you doing?" "Why didn't you call me?" "I transferred the money for your rent." Messages from a worried, loving mother. Inspired by Chantal Akerman's News from Home, these messages play out over footage of Elinice's daily life in this debut, resulting in a tender yet tense portrait of love, sacrifice and distance.
