Two episodes from the ten-part police series Russen - an epithet used by criminals for detectives - that focuses on the ways in which police officers are confronted with themselves through crime. In Gijzeling (Hostage), a supermarket is raided. The employees and the customers are taken hostage. When detective De Vos recognises one of the raiders as his brother, he tries to thwart the kidnapping by offering himself as collateral. The hold-up runs completely out of hand and the second raider turns out to be someone else than De Vos had thought. In Carte Blanche, detective Van der Scheur finds out that his colleague Tom is involved in the IRT case. While he is searching for evidence, the anxiety about Tom's fate is growing, because he is untraceable. It gradually becomes clear that the officer is entangled in a hornets' nest.
