For three years, documentary filmmaker Stalenhoeff followed the young vocal talent Karsu Dönmez from Osdorp. Karsu, whom connoisseurs now call the Dutch Norah Jones, started her career in her Turkish parents’ restaurant. The lyrics she wrote at night sound personal, but Karsu denies they are about her own life. Raised on both Dutch and Turkish standards and values, the pupil finds her way to maturity as a successful singer-songwriter.
