Affectionate and forthright documentary about Jason (22), who struggles with the psychological effects of a traumatic childhood. The misery deepened after Jason was locked up by childcare at the age of sixteen.
Third episode of Maasja Ooms’ trilogy about the failing Dutch youth care. Like its predecessors Alicia and Rotjochies, this forthright and affectionate documentary is a critical observation from a personal perspective. Ooms follows Jason (22) up close while he struggles with the psychological effects of a traumatic childhood and with a well-meaning childcare that put him in even deeper doldrums. Intense, intimate therapeutic sessions make clear how sweeping the consequences are of wrong turns within the childcare system.
