Documentary road movie about Flemish writer and dramatist Rashif El Kaoui, who has been contending with prejudices about his bicultural identity for years. Will an exploration of his childhood offer salvation?
Flemish writer and dramatist Rashif El Kaoui calls himself a bastard, a crossbreed and a mongrel. All his life, this wordsmith has been struggling with prejudices about his bicultural identity in the land of his Flemish mother. In this documentary road movie, El Kaoui travels to the world of his Moroccan father, hoping to alleviate his identity struggles. Director Ahmet Polat recognises Rashif’s experiences and follows him with the camera. What does the world look like if you grow up between two cultures?
