Gardens of Fez

Director: Heidi Vogels
In the historic Moroccan city of Fez, the old city gardens now lie abandoned. Through the memories of a teacher, architect, gardener and poet, this documentary tells a story about the magic of Fez's old gardens.
In historic Fez, the great gardens and rivers that once formed the heart of the city have almost entirely disappeared. Yet they live on in the memories of local residents, for whom this place holds a different meaning for each of them. A teacher, an architect, a gardener, a poet and a dancer each try, in their own way, to honour the gardens in this debut, which has been recognised at multiple festivals. The result is a portrait of a city in which memories continue to meet one another, even as the gardens have nearly vanished.
