Short documentary commissioned by the national government in which Haanstra shows that the enclosure of the Zuiderzee to form the IJsselmeer threatens the specific culture of the Zuiderzee towns. The film shows the rich regional traditions and customs. The title was derived from the bible: 'And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea' (Revelations 21).
