Behind Hoi Yi's public fight for freedom of expression lies an inner conflict. As a queer man, he moves between two worlds: the free life he leads in the Netherlands, and the traditional expectations of his family in China. While he helps Iranian journalists circumvent censorship, his personal life slowly falls apart. A confronting conversation with Mei-Lan, pregnant by another queer man, forces Hoi into self-reflection in this poignant, animated documentary about the protagonist's dilemmas.
