NFF Prof Talk: Paula Fairfield

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of sound design with Paula Fairfield, the creative mind behind the roars and snorts of Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. Paula has no fewer than 13 Emmy nominations to her name, three of which brought her awards for Game of Thrones and Lovecraft Country. In this Prof Talk she explains her working methods.

Paula Fairfield’s passion is high concept sound design, as is evident from her resume as a sound artist. During her career as an exhibiting artist, she was the co-director of Canada’s foremost centre for media art, Charles Street Video, and her artworks feature in various collections around the world. She sits on the Advisory Board of Northwestern University, the Executive Sound Peer Committee of the Television Academy, and the advisory committee for AVID, and is a member of the Film Academy and the MPSE.

Besides Game of Thrones and Lovecraft Country, Paula’s recent projects include House of the Dragon, Rings of Power, Motherland: Fort Salem, Warrior Nun, Them: Covenant, and The Nevers. In the Prof Talk she will explain her working process for TV, film, series, commercials and generally anything that makes a noise. A session not to be missed for anyone with a love of sound in film.
