Drawing on personal experiences and supported by visual material and case studies, Daniel Pemberton will explain his working process as composer.

The music of composer Daniel Pemberton is innovative and unique. By experimenting with sound, he develops emotional scores that don’t dominate the sound of a film. His work ranges from otherworldly tones for The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance to percussion in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and hip hop in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He is currently working on Enola Holmes 2, various Spider-Man sequels, Amsterdam and See How They Run.

In this Prof Talk, Pemberton will introduce you to his working methods, explaining how he experiments with sound to develop emotional scores, and why he thinks it’s important to work with artists who can relate to the story personally. Hear about Pemberton’s special relationship with sound editors, how he succeeds in finding the perfect balance between film and music, and his drive to create a completely new experience for the viewer.
