Producer Tommy Pallotta (A Scanner Darkly, Waking Life, American Prince) gives an insight into the complex and fascinating making process of the Netflix hit Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood.

Nostalgically revisiting director Richard Linklater’s childhood, this film is made up of news flashes, TV excerpts and commercials that have been rotoscoped to create an animated action movie. How do you realise a production which is a hybrid both between animation and film and between manual and digital production models, working with teams both in the Netherlands and the US?

Pallotta is constantly exploring the intersection between technology and storytelling. His visual language consists of a mixture of technology, film, animation and interactivity. In this Prof Talk, Pallotta will take you into the production world ofApollo 10½ and explain the intricacies of working on hybrid productions.
