Experience a unique mix of virtual reality and live performance in the compelling story of The Imaginary Friend. The makers worked on this production for seven years and invite you to take an exclusive look behind the scenes.

The Imaginary Friend is about eight-year-old Daniel, who has just lost his mother and struggles to distinguish reality from fantasy. In this unique interactive virtual reality experience, you, the viewer, become Daniel’s best friend and part of the colourful world of his imagination. Through play you help him to overcome his fears.

The latest volumetric video technology brings the movements of real actors to life in 3D animation. In The Imaginary Friend, this technology becomes interactive – something that has never been done before on such a large scale. Through ‘head retargeting’, the actors’ heads subtly turn with the viewer, so you feel a stronger connection with the main character. The unique atmosphere is enhanced by charmingly animated 3D elements in the style of children’s drawings, which blend with the realistic 3D environment. During the evening you will meet the crew and cast and find out how this extraordinary production was made.
