Documentary that Van Gasteren made in 1962, as commissioned by PTT, on the occasion of the launch of the telephone exchange in Warffum, Groningen. This wrapped up the automation of the Dutch telephone network - as the second one in the world.
Documentary by Van Gasteren which was commissioned by PTT when the telephone exchange in Warffum, Groningen was put into operation. The automation of the Dutch telephone network - as the second country in the world - was now official. The film does not concentrate on the technology, but rather on human labour and intelligence, which eventually made the connections possible. The filmmaker also follows a number of ordinary citizens, gratefully using the new telecommunication system every day.
