In the youth film Het paard van Sinterklaas, the Chinese schoolgirl Winky Wong (Ebbie Tam) brought the house down with her endearing, self-willed attempts to make herself familiar with life in Holland and particularly to ride a horse. In the sequel Where Is Winky's Horse?, Winky has to make every effort to avert the catastrophe that the entry of St. Nicholas without his grey would be. In her letters to the saintly man, which she reads in the voice-over, the now well-integrated Winky tells about her feelings and experiences, while she rides her red bicycle, against the backdrop of a small town in the dunes, up and down to the riding school of uncle Siem (Jan Decleir) and aunt Cor (Betty Schuurman). Winky is often in the dark about the rationale of the incomprehensible adult world. Moreover, she has the difficult task to write in a letter to St Nicholas that he had better not come.
