Documentary about the orchestra De Volharding that was founded twenty-two years ago to change current music practice. In the seventies, the time of Vietnam, the closure of shipyards in the North of Amsterdam and the military coup in Chile, the orchestra was intent on musical change, but also wanted to play a role in the social changes taking place. In Volharding (Perseverence) director Kees Hin travels with two members of the orchestra to Chile now, to see what is left of the orchestra's sound. In Portugal he records the amazement of the musicians when a simple song still evokes memories of the revolution. Extensive extracts let us hear the pulsating power that has always characterised the orchestra.
