With cigarettes and conquests, drifting teen girl tries to fill the void created by her socially inhabited family, but only the camera comes close.
The camera is just as unsteady as the unstable family Vivienne grows up in. In changing perspectives, often from very close, sometimes from unexpected angles, the family members appear: a heavily drinking mother, a father sitting limply on the couch. Vivienne seeks refuge elsewhere, in boys, going out, loitering around town. The camera doesn’t let her go, glides across her face and body. But cigarettes and temptations cannot fill the void.
