Portrait of draughtsman Peter Vos, famous for his Beestenkwartet. The film unravels his passions and demons through his work, because as Vos said himself: ‘You can’t hide yourself in your work’.

In his drawings, Peter Vos (1935-2010) visualised feelings of jealousy, lewdness, fury and grief. Via his oeuvre, the documentary unravels the passions and demons of the draughtsman who became famous with his Beestenkwartet. In addition to hundreds of virtuoso drawings, the film contains some breath-taking pictures of birds, conversations with people close to him (including his son Sander and colleague Peter van Straaten) and Peter Vos’ own voice on archived recordings. This makes it clear that in his life story, work and life are inextricably entwined.
