#VerlorenJongensZullenWinnen (‘Lost Boys Will Win’) is a transmedia documentary event which builds on the documentary of the same name by Polina Medvedeva and Isaura Sanwirjatmo. In collaboration with a group of pupils from an international transition class at a school in Rotterdam, the makers immerse the audience in a blend of online and physical performances ranging from dance and theatre to spoken word and discussion. What is it like to realise your ambitions as a young person in the Netherlands speaking Dutch as a second language? How do you achieve success without losing your own identity? Armed with a phone, a camera or a microphone, they redefine political engagement and challenge mainstream imagery. The installation in Bibliotheek Neude shows the three-piece, that is never finished. It continues on the social media channels of the main characters. The playlists on these channels will be updated.
The informal setting of the event invites dialogue between audience and performers. The performers are Mahfoud Mokaddem, Des Balentien, Swendeline Ersilia, Ibtissam Abnay, Marlou Fernanda, Skeyenno "Kiddy" Talany (Class3-E), Jeffrey 'Creepashu' Loewenicht (Mensja Collective), Gary 'Duimalot' Gravenbeek (Mensja Collective & Underdogz), Kauwboy en Elten Kiene.
