Is it real estate, is it the wealthy, or do the tourists call the shots in Amsterdam? Artists and politicians look into the question which direction the city should take.
The fight for space around the IJ river in Amsterdam is in full swing. Former alderman Maarten van Poelgeest, former mayor Eberhard van der Laan, now deceased, and the artists Aafke Steenhuis, Sigrid van Essel and Bart Stuart comment on recent developments on the IJ banks, the bustle, the public space and the real estate development, but they also tell stories about the beauty of this river connecting the northern and southern sections of the city.
