Now that her memory starts deteriorating, filmmaker Martijn Veldhoen encourages his mother Lotje Ruting to tell her life story one last time - even though she does not want to be filmed. In this intimate portrait with ingenious visual solutions, a few photographs and some specific questions by her son, Lotje’s history in her Amsterdam canal house is revived. How did she experience her marriage with the ever-busy artist Aat Veldhoen? How did she manage to raise four children all by herself?
