Xolani, a lonely factory worker, joins a group of men who set up camp in the remote mountains of the Eastern Cape province in South Africa. Every year, male Xhosa teens undergo a tribally rooted rite of passage here. Xolani assists in this rite. When one of the boys discovers Xolani’s best kept secret, his whole existence is shaken.
