Costume drama, based upon the novel The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love by Oscar Hijuelos, portraying the relationship between eroticism, dance and music in grand-scale musical numbers. It is set in 1952, when the Mambo rage grips America. The Cuban brothers Cesar and Nestor Castillo arrive in New York and dream of a better life through their hot-blooded music. Maruschka Detmers has one of the leading roles.
