The Discovery of Heaven

Second feature film by director Jeroen Krabbé is the international and large-scale adaptation of Harry Mulisch' novel of the same name. A film about love, death and fate. The story begins with a decision by God: because the people on earth are really taking too many liberties, He wants to have an envoy bring back the tables of the Decalogue to heaven. God's angels proceed to manipulate the lives of, in particular, four people. The brilliant Onno Quist and the womaniser Max Delius meet each other 'by a mere fluke' on a summer night in 1967. They turn out to have so many things in common that they become best friends on the spot. The 'cosmic twins' share everything, even their passionate relationship with the bashful cello player Ada Brons. This eternal triangle brings forth the chosen one: Quinten. A remarkable kid that has strange dreams and experiences things that are far beyond the ratio.
