With four million readers, The Daily Nation is the most widely read newspaper in East Africa. The documentary provides a revealing picture of the everyday goings on in and around Kenya's most modern paper and the country's only source of independent information. The film follows the paper from printer to street hawker after journalists have put together the most objective article possible. In this way the filmmakers sketch a kaleidoscopic picture of Kenyan society today. Corruption seems rife and independence and complete press freedom are not to be taken for granted. This becomes clear as the film shows how an editorial conference room is scanned for bugs and the paper tries to find out about Kenya's dubious role in the kidnap of Kurdish leader Oçalan from the Greek embassy in Nairobi.
