Close-to-the-skin double portrait about falling and getting up. In his Rotterdam coffee bar Heilige Boontjes, rugged Rodney lets young Mitchel reintegrate. Will the latter find the footing he needs?
Heilige Boontjes is a coffee bar in downtown Rotterdam. Rodney is charged with the day-to-day management. He prepares ex-delinquents and youngsters who have trouble finding a job for the labour market. Including Mitchel. ‘I don’t care how often you take a nosedive, what matters is how you get back on your feet’, Rodney tells him. As a loving surrogate dad, he sees a younger version of himself in Mitchel. His mission to give Mitchel a place in society again is entwined with his personal childhood wounds.
