Since the 1970s, Ajax fans have adopted the sobriquet ‘Superjoden’ (Super Jews). The Israeli filmmaker Nirit Peled wonders why the supporters are so fanatical in their use of the symbols and songs that they distanced themselves from by coming to the Netherlands. Do they feel Jewish? And what exactly does this mean? Against the background of the search for her own Jewish identity, Peled interviews various season card holders of the Amsterdam team, including a mother and an ex-chairman.
