Feauture in which the European narrative tradition is mixed with Japanese animations to arrive at a stylised thriller

In Stratosphere Girl, filmmaker Matthias Oberg mixes the European narrative tradition with Japanese animations to arrive at a stylised thriller that is mainly set in nocturnal Tokyo. There, young and blonde girls from Europe make a living in dark clubs with horny Japanese men. Eighteen-year-old Belgian Angela (talented designer in the Japanese manga style) also ends up here after a meeting with DJ Yamamoto. The visual concept of the film, carried through to great lengths fits the alienating atmosphere from the manga cartoons.
