Documentary series in twelve instalments celebrating the meeting between literature and cinema. The writers’ portraits form a cross section of the state of affairs in both disciplines. The films show the authors’ mainsprings and the way these are expressed in their books. Frans Weisz took on the portrait of Tommy Wieringa, the many-sided writer who had his breakthrough with his acclaimed best-seller Joe Speedboot. Besides novels, Wieringa writes travel accounts, columns, essays and critiques. In the TV programme De Grens, he explored the frayed edges of the Netherlands.
