Documentary series in twelve instalments celebrating the meeting between literature and cinema. The writers’ portraits form a cross section of the state of affairs in both disciplines. The films show the authors’ mainsprings and the way these are expressed in their books. John Albert Jansen portrayed prose writer and poet Rodaan Al Galidi. After being refused a residence permit in the late 1990s as an Iraqi refugee, he taught himself the Dutch language and started writing. For his novel De autist en de postduif, Al Galidi received the Prize for Literature from the European Union.
