A taciturn elderly couple. He loves his rooster; she strongly disapproves of his hobby. He wins crowing contests in the local pub and receives a golden rooster. She gets increasingly annoyed at his obsession. Even if his wife gets spruced up, he only pays attention to the rooster and even lets it sleep in their bed. A merry-melancholic tune accompanies the domestic tragicomedy up to its irreversible dénouement.
