In a multilayered setting that has been painted with coarse brushstrokes, a woman leaves her house. Next, a colourful landscape uncoils which is submerged in water: household goods, street furniture and waste float by and together make up the contemporaneously visualised story of the Submerged Land of Saeftinghe in the sixteenth century.
