The choice between the shredder and the violin. Pablo Simonsz is a ship-breaker’s son. His father assumes he will take over the company, but Pablo is a gifted violin player and composer.
Pablo Simonsz grows up among screw propellers and submarines. His father is a specialised ship-breaker. During the day, Pablo attends the conservatory, because he is a gifted violin player. But his father doesn’t take his ambitions seriously. When Pablo takes over the company, Simonsz & Zn will be the oldest father-to-son business in the Netherlands. When Pablo successfully composes his first piece, he is faced with a far-reaching choice: will he opt for the music or the demolisher’s trade.
