Romantic comedy set in the near future when friendship has been commercialised. The protagonist is Alfred, a talented artist in an artistic rut. Moniek, his girlfriend, is the ambitious writer for a successful soap series She bases the episodes largely on her own life with Alfred. Alfred is not able to think of much else than painting Mexican hats and Moniek is irritated by his lack of commercial insight. She does find this talent with her boss and has an affair with him. Alfred moves out to live with his sister. There he hatches the plan of proving his commercial talents: he starts a business and rents himself out for 50 guilders an hour as a friend. The concept grows to be a commercial success, a real impresario in friends is born. With a soundtrack by Van Dik Hout.
