Insecure teenager David is at odds with himself. He is looking for warmth, love and acknowledgement and finds it with the wrong person; the much younger boy next door. Partly autobiographical, but the maker examines ‘the other side of the story' by putting himself in the culprit’s shoes.
Elias is eleven, likes to romp and looks up to David, which makes him an easy victim of the latter’s sexual petting. Eventually, David is confronted with the inevitable consequences of his actions, which have serious repercussions for himself, but also for the people around him. This calmly painted portrait examines ‘the other side of the story’, because the maker puts himself in the culprit’s shoes. From this position, without judging but also without justifying anything, he gives a reflection on the issue of sexual abuse.
