Sensitive portrait, situated in today’s Sarajevo. A widower struggles with his personal past and the history of his country. Made under grand master Béla Tarr’s watchful eye.
For his graduation film at the film academy of Hungarian film auteur Béla Tarr, Dutch director Stijn Bouma conjures the spirits of the Balkan War. They appear unto Amir, a single father who since his wife’s sudden demise is plagued by gnawing guilt. Did he pay enough attention to his wife? Lost in the present, his mind wanders off to a grimmer past. Meanwhile, he threatens to repeat his errors by forgetting about his responsibilities towards his daughter.
