In the 1960s and 1970s, Ramses Shaffy enchanted all of Amsterdam and surroundings. This four-part Nipkowschijf-winning series zooms in on the younger years of the actor and chansonnier, who was a source of inspiration for countless people - and still is. Unique archive footage of Amsterdam illustrate the story about the tempestuous and charming Ramses, who sings more and more, meets Liesbeth List, initiates Shaffy Chantant, lives with the love of his life Joop Admiraal and almost goes down as a result of his perpetual urge for a grand and compelling life.
