During World War II, some ten thousand Dutchmen spent years in the camps of Altengrabow and Mühlberg on the Elbe. They were young conscripts who had to work for the Germans - officially of their own free will, but in reality under pain of their relatives' death or torture. Although these men suffered the same hardships as other camp prisoners, people in the Netherlands received them as traitors. During their captivity, the director's father, one of the camp inmates, and Joh Mulder were already working on a book about their experiences, which was published after the war with the title Prikkeldraad (Barbed Wire). Entrop jr. found six very old survivors of the camp, who finally talked about their horrible experiences and the cold reception at home. Illustrated by photographs and excerpts from the book, yet again they bear witness to the atrocities committed during World War II.
